London Fashion Week AW12: House of Holland
House of Holland has always been the go-to label when in need of something a bit flirty, but it seems the HoH girl is growing up; cheeky slogan t-shirts and naughty mini-kilts have given way to a more wearable collection for autumn/winter ’12 with tunics, shifts and tea dresses being the order of the day.
For next season, there is a distinct 70s vibe, although the dresses are much more demure than before (think longer sleeves, higher necklines and even some mid lengths) and anything more than two inches above the knee is often worn with a flared trouser or ankle sock, while long gloves distract from bare arms. Perhaps this new-found modesty is something to do with the designer himself (and his gaggle of famous girlfriends) nearing the grand old age of 30 – the AW12 dresses appear more grown up, and are definitely made for a different type of party than those of seasons past.
If you love House of Holland for the fun, playful reputation it has built over the last few years, fear not. The designer has included one of his most racy dresses yet: a red leather halter – albeit of knee length proportions.
